poetrypea.com presents a Japanese short form poetry podcast, featuring a poet from the USA, Curt Pawlisch. He introduces the next haibun submission period with a haibun that is a little bit different. If you enjoy writing fiction and poetry, had you thought of combining the two in this delicate and satisfying poetry form? Have a listen… perhaps you’ll have something to submit for the call out.

Here’s the link, if you’d like to donate to our work.

Criteria for Haibun call out 16-31 July 2023

Normal criteria, see this link

Plus:

  1. Write a haibun of any length you like on any topic you like. It doesn’t have to be a haibun essay.
  2. You must include a haiku by another poet and you must include its citation, without that it’s an automatic rejection
  3. You can include some of your own haiku too. In fact, we absolutely encourage you to do this.

I mentioned Michael Dylan Welch’s different types of haibun in the podcast. Michael and I don’t agree on all matters haibun or haiku  for that matter, but that doesn’t mean we can’t learn from one another. Here is the page in his website I mentioned.
